This cello piece is a little out of character on the violin. My friend Peggy did find one error at #29 that has been corrected. She also gave me a viola version. What got me interested in learning this piece was the movie soundtrack to the Master and Commander DVD with Yo-Yo Ma.
I was just jamming around and came up with this quaint little piece based on the Baroque format. I try to keep these things to one sheet and not too complicated so any of my younger students can learn them. When played at a quick tempo, you get a nice spiccato bounce. Actually, the correct term is sautille', when played at the middle of the stick.
One note at a time into FinaleNotepad. You can also do this with the number keypad or a midi keyboard. This method is tedious, but therapeutic and deadly accurate. Enter all 1st violin, then 2nd, then all the slurs and articulations. Save your work often. I used to do all this by hand. Sometimes I make one for Morgan and her viola, in the Alto Clef.
